I went to observe Mrs. Raibles afternoon class. So I would have seen her math reading and writing lessons. But because it was the last week of the semester for them it was very hectic, so we did not get to do everything. They had a surprise assembly and then she had to do assessments with the kid’s one on one. So they did a little math lesson where they made bracelets the concept of this was “As long as my hand”. Then they had recess. After that Raible had to test the kids one on one while she id that I watched the other kids and played games that were educational with them. After school we waited for the children’s parents. We had a very nice and insightful hour long conversation after school that really opened my eyes to some things.

Goals/Observations

  1. How does she interact with the kids/ how they interact with her?

  2. Help out with kids

  3. Does she do a thematic unit?

  4. What is her teaching style

  5. How does she deal with the kids that are more behind?

Results

  1. She interacts very well with the kids, she is very sweet. All the kids seem to love her.

  2. It was hand on all day for me. I was constantly working with the kids. I helped the make bracelets then watched/played with them while Mrs. Raible was working with the kids.

  3. She does not do a thematic unit all the teachers have the do the same thing( that way kids don’t get upset that the other class made cookies of something and they didn’t). but I believe she does get  to decide how she teaches it for the most part

  4. She is very nice and easy to talk to. Very laid back likes to let the kids decide what to do for “center time”.

  5. We did not get to that today with the schedule changes. I hope to see that the next time I come by.
